First United Methodist Church Welcomes New Pastor
By Sentinel Staff Writer
Published July 24, 2008

First United Methodist Church of Compton (FUMC) is pleased to welcome, their new senior pastor, Dr. Darnell Holmes! Dr. Holmes served for the last year and a half as a consultant/member with the Crossroads United Methodist Church of Compton, pastored by Rev. Reginald M. Copeland. Prior to serving at Crossroads, Dr. Holmes was staff pastor of the Ministry of Spiritual Development at the Faithful Central Bible Church of Inglewood, CA, under Bishop Kenneth C. Ulmer. Dr. Holmes is strongly committed to instilling a biblically based sense of worth and value in others. Dr. Holmes’ powerful spiritual messages address the secular issues of our time.

FMUC is one of the oldest churches in southern California and has historically been recognized for its spiritual service in the local community. The public is invited to worship with us at 8:00 am or 10:00 am. As Dr. Holmes said, “I believe GOD has great things in store for our church. The best truly is yet to come!” FUMC is located at 1025 S. Long Beach Blvd., Compton, CA 90221. For further information, please call the church at (310) 639-0775.
