Four of the City Sections top girl’s high school basketball teams will be fighting it out for the title of the 13th Annual L.A. City Showcase, hosted by Fairfax high school.

Fairfax, Narbonne, LACES, and View Park all have goals to win championships at the end of the season, so they are using this tournament to see where they stand against some of the City’s best.

If the tournament plays out the way it looks like it will, these four teams will be playing in tonight’s semifinal match ups, at 6 and 7:30 p.m. and then again in the championship match up and 3rd place game on Saturday at 2:30 and 4 p.m.

Fairfax is led by juniors Angelique McDaniel, Dana Haley, and Brittany Byrd, along with sophomore John’ea Thompson.

Fairfax placed 2nd in the Varsity Vaquero Invitational and finished with a 4-1 record at the Las Vegas Holiday Classic.

View Park, who already has a 46-34 victory over Fairfax at the Inglewood City of Champions tournament, is on the same side of the bracket as Fairfax.  The two teams should face off tonight.

View Park, who won the La Habra Lady Highlander Classic and finished with a 4-1 record at the Las Vegas Holiday Classic, is led by senior Danielle Pruitt, who has committed to LMU, and junior Rachel Sample.

On the other side of the bracket, Narbonne, who won City titles in 2005, 2006, and 2008, and were the runners up last year, finished with a 3-1 record at the Nike T.O.C. in Phoenix, and they won the West Coast Jamboree in Northern California.

Narbonne is led by seniors Tailer Butler and Atoe’ Jackson and juniors Kimberly Pickett and Tori Breshers.

LACES is going to have a tough time with Narbonne on their side of the bracket.

LACES, who is led by seniors Ea Shoushtair and Taylor Holeman, finished with a 3-1 record in the Palisades Beach Invitational.  Their lone loss was by one point against a good Carson team, who also will be in the running for the City title.
