Facebook comments on Mike Brown being fired
By Sentinel News Service

Mike Brown only lasted one season and five games.  Out of the last 10 games that counted, he led the Lakers to a 2-10 record, which led to his firing.  Photo by Jeff Lewis

Never cared for Mike Brown as a coach. But I never like to see a brother unemployed. I think he is done as a head coach in the Association.

Heather Bass

The only people upset about Mike Brown being fired are his family and non Laker fans because they were getting a huge kick out of the losing. That’s it and that’s all! Good riddance to him and hopes for finding a coach who demands respect and understands Laker culture!

Tiffany Gainer

his contract was $18 million. he walks away with $10million. i think he’ll be fine. head coach again possibly not. he coached the greatest Kobe & Lbj & no championship

Lawrence Ross

All that said, Mike Brown isn’t a bad guy. In fact, he’s a nice guy. But right now, the Lakers and him being a nice guy are in last place.

Pam Licavoli

Not sure if its good or bad but Laker fans seem to be relieved. Doesn’t seem fair to me because who’s to say it was the coach’s fault. Steve Nash is out, D Howard really hasn’t made an impact, the bench is kind a week and if they trade overrated Gasol they could bring in a couple young ins.
Make no mistake tho, Mitch and them already have something in place and firing Brown was prolly already in the makings. Lakers chasing Boston’s Banners and Kobe’s chasing MJ. He’s got a good 2 years left but I don’t think this was a Kobe decision, it was a management decision.
Lets just see what happens next. I will tell you this, my TV will be on ESPN and NBATV all day long!

Damon Oliver

My prayers have been answered (superficial)! (glad you clipper fans have had your moment) What a beautiful day!!!

Abenet Hagos

So wrong for this. But I love it!

He lost 14 of the last 15 times they have stepped on the court and the players were not motivated to play for him.

Melanie Ayers

They didnt give Mike Brown no time. This team has no chemistry and I doubt that whoever takes over will do any better. Maybe they should bring back Odom.

Brian Carr

As a Celtics fan you know I love Lakers chaos – I just think that 5 games that count is a pretty small sample size. Personally hoping for a repeat of 2004-2005.

David Watts

Hate to see him go out like that but I feel like it was time. Didn’t seem to have the ability to motivate his players. Jerry Sloan!!!!!!!!!!

Todd Anthony Carline

He is a good coach but when you don’t even call your team plays as the Head coach in the huddle something is Very Wrong!

Genae Victoria Jefferson

Apparently Dwight taught Kobe a few things… lol

Jason Douglas Lewis

Seems like a rushed decision, but if things did not turn around quickly, it was bound to happen. I thought he was going to get another week or two. But looking at the situation, Brown had stars like Kobe Bryant, Pau Gasol, Andrew Bynum (all on the same team), and LeBron James, and he never won.  The Lakers better already have a plan in place, or it was a bad fire at this moment.

Jonathan White

He sucked. How do you have one of the best perimeter scorers in the game, and two of the top front court players (Gasol and Bynum) in a league of *small big men* and only manage 95 POINTS PER GAME (2011-2012 stats)!!! He was horrible and needed to go last year. He was supposed to be a defensive coach and that didn’t pan out well either. Then we brought in new players and their “surge” only lasted like a week.

Hiram Chanel

The Lakers have the personnel Mike Brown could not make it work, he is the weakest link, GOODBYE…btw he had LeBron too and we saw his record there…

John Stark

Not a fan of the Lakers but they have bigger problems than coaching, remember the Lakers got swept against the Mavs when Phil Jackson was still coaching them, the team was stronger then too. The players they have now aren’t the greatest defenders outside of Howard and Artest. Kobe is getting older and the young guards in the league are having big games against him. Time will tell tho.

Ron Stagg

“Got da go, Got da go”..Robin Harris.. LOL!!!!

Terrell Lewis

Dear Fellow Lakers fans,
Don’t be fooled. The Lakers fired Mike Brown to distract from the fact that most fans can’t watch the games.
Last season we were told that we didn’t win because we had a new coach, who didn’t have a Pre Season to implement his offense. Guess what… Who ever they hire to replace Mike Brown wont have a Pre season either. They’re already covering their butts.

The truth is the Lakers are too top heavy, and get nothing out of their bench. Over the last year they have pasted on players such as Jamal Crawford, Chauncey Billups, Gilbert Arenas, Gerald Green, and Leandro Barbosa…. To name a few. All solid players, who would have upgraded the bench.
I LOVE my Lakers, but they’re screwing us!
