This years’ Honorary Chairperson will be NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal who has confirmed his attendance.

CBS TV Personality De Marco Morgan and Robert Gillespie MD will serve as Masters of Ceremony.  Entertainment for the evening will be provided by Life Time Achievement Grammy Award winner Larry Dunn and his orchestra who will pay tribute to the Anthology of Earth, Wind and Fire.

The Association of Black Cardiologists (ABC) was founded and established in 1974 by Harvard Graduate Richard Allen Williams, MD who received his medical degree from State University of New York Downstate Medical Center College of Medicine.

While serving three years as the inaugural Assistant Medical Director at the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Hospital in Watts, California he and Dr. David Satcher collaborated on writing the grant proposal which was awarded $2.5 million by the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute and established the King-Drew Sickle Cell Center of which he became the Director.

Dr. Williams along with 17 other dedicated medical professionals focused on bringing awareness to the adverse impact of cardiovascular disease which is prevalent among African Americans.

In 2008 the Spirit of the Heart Awards Program was launched and to date honors distinguished individuals and organizations that have made outstanding contributions to the advancement of health equity and/or the reduction of cardiovascular disease disparities.
