Ebony Repertory Theatre Proudly Presents Legendary Jazz Piano Master Ahmad Jamal

“All of my inspiration comes from Ahmad Jamal.” – Miles Davis

The Ebony Repertory Theatre (ERT) proudly ushers the historic jazz scene back to mid-city with a highly anticipated two-night, four performance concert experience by the incomparable, pioneering jazz pianist, Ahmad Jamal.

Spanning more than six decades, Mr. Jamal is one of the last giants from the golden-age of jazz, and continues to redefine the art form and increase his following with a style that is both unique and unprecedented in any era. “Having grown up within a walking distance of three prominent jazz clubs, The Parisian Room, The IT Clube and the Hillcrest Club, I, along with ERT, am honored to welcome Mr. Jamal-and jazz-back to this stretch of Washington Blvd. Our venue was designed to host artists of his caliber and we look forward to treating our community to his work and genius,” says ERT founder and producer Wren T. Brown.

Mr. Jamal’s performances will take place at the Ebony Repertory Theatre’s Nate Holden Performing Arts Center on September 25 and September 26, 2009 with shows beginning at 7:30 and 9:30 PM. He will be accompanied by a stellar group of musicians: Kenny Washington on drums, percussionist Manolo Badrena, and acoustic and electric bass player James “Chicago Fire” Cammack.

Tickets for Ahmad Jamal are available online at www.ebonyrep.org or through the theater box office at 323.964.9766. Ebony Repertory Theatre is located at the Nate Holden Performing Arts Center, 4718 West Washington Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA 90016.
