July 5, 2011-4th District Councilman Dr. Willie O. Jones was sworn in today to his first four year term. Councilman Jones was sworn in approximately 2 1/2 years prior upon winning a special election to fulfill the unexpired term of then 4th District Councilman Isadore Hall. Isadore Hall vacated the seat after being elected as the State of California 52nd District Assemblyman. The ceremony took place at the City of Compton Council Chambers, 205 S. Willowbrook Avenue, Compton, CA.
The swearing in was conducted by the Honorable Assemblyman Isadore Hall who is an avid supporter of Councilman Dr. Jones. “It is with great pride, and honor that I stand here today to administer the Oath of Office to my dear friend and colleague,” stated Assemblyman Hall. The air of the ceremony was warm and familial, as Councilman Jones took his oath for his first full four year term as the 4th District Councilman for the City of Compton.
“I am humble and thankful as I stand before you this afternoon. I am thankful to each one of you-each citizen who voted for me,” stated Councilman Dr. Jones as he opened his remarks. Public Service is not new a new concept to the recently re-elected Councilman Jones who has also elected to the Compton College Board of Trustees and served as the President. Councilman Jones concluded by saying, “When I ran for the City Council I promised you that I would represent the people by making informed decisions that are in the best interest(s) of the City. I have done that!”
The future looks bright for the City of Compton.
