It is a continuing joy to know and meet with the Dorsey Donnas, a truly inspirational group of women. They truly have a deep love for their alma mater and return every year to show that love and support during the week of Homecoming at Dorsey High.

Four years ago, I had the pleasure of meeting these ladies who are truly cheerleaders in spirit. They came out in their Dorsey cheerleading uniforms, some wearing their original high school uniform and took care of business.  Every following year, they’ve returned, sometimes with more former alumni and sometimes with a smaller group—but always the same spirit. The Dorsey High Alumni Donnas have true school spirit and aren’t afraid to show it

Every year, they return, sometimes with more, sometimes with less—but always with the same cheering spirit

The Dorsey Annual Homecoming game at Jackie Robinson Stadium on Rodeo Rd is where the ladies show out every year. Captains, Co-Captains, Yell Queens and the rest of the squad return and cheer their home team on just like they did back in the day. Most of the returning Cheer Squad was made up of alumni from the class of 1976, 1980, 1981 and 1982.

The ladies spend time outside their busy schedules to practice their cheers, which are showcased during the game right next to the current Dorsey Donna Cheerleaders. The Alumni Donnas seem to always turn the party out and proved once again that “age ain’t nothing but a number.” Their exploits have gained the attention of popular media outlets and the Donnas continue to get the recognition they deserved.

They reunited recently for the Homecoming Game at Dorsey and showed that their team spirit hasn’t gone anywhere. These ladies are the Dorsey Donnas and they love their school. Until next year ladies!
