The Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the Colorado Rockies 6-2 on Jackie Robinson Day. With 10 hits and five RBIs, the Boys in Blue displayed their offensive dominance in the win.
The entire MLB donned the no. 42 jersey to honor the legacy of Jackie Robinson on April 15. His eldest granddaughter Sonya Panky Robinson made the ceremonial first pitch to shortstop Mookie Betts.
The Dodgers also welcomed alumni of the Jackie Robinson Foundation Scholars program, the Central Altadena Little League, and the West Pasadena Little League to the contest.

Centerfielder Chris Taylor put the Dodgers on the scoreboard after hitting a sacrifice RBI in the second inning. The entire Dodgers lineup had an at-bat in the third; four were walked.

Catcher Will Smith slugged out a three-run home run, and Taylor hit an RBI Single, edging the Dodgers up 5-0.
“That’s exactly the model of what this offense can do: build innings, create stress and then get a big hit,” said Dodgers general manager Dave Roberts. “It was good to see [Smith] get that big hit.”

Edman tied his career-high of four hits in the matchup; he executed two singles and two doubles. Roberts noted that he initially did not think that Edman had the power that he has.
“The more you’re around a person, you start to learn more about them,” Roberts said. “[Edman] probably does get overlooked by a lot of the star power that we have but a guy that goes out there and posts every day, plays the way he does, it’s certainly contagious.”
The Rockies got two runs back in the fourth but the Dodger bullpen cooled their bats for the rest of the evening. Jack Dreyer (W 2-0) struck out four batters in the 1.2 innings that he pitched.

“Having such a good defense behind me makes it easy to throw the ball in the zone and then Will Smith behind the plate just gives you all the confidence in the world,” Dreyer said. “I don’t have to do a lot of shaking, I think he makes good decisions, so I trust him fully.”
First baseman Freddie Freeman earned the last run of the night with an RBI single in the eighth inning.

Starting pitcher Landon Knack had two strikeouts but had two errors in the 4.1 innings he pitched.
The Dodgers have one more game against the Rockies on April 16 at 7:10P.M. before traveling to battle the Texas Rangers in a three-game series this weekend.
