Renewal and rejoicing will take place starting Monday, January 2, through Friday, January 6, at 7 p.m., at the New Year’s Revival sponsored by Curry Temple C.M.E. Church, 322 West Rosecrans Avenue in Compton.

According to Pastor Byron L. Smith, Sr., the services will offer spiritual refreshment and scriptural guidance for people desiring renewed direction in life. The theme is ‘Throwing Off Things of the Past That Our Eyes Might Be Fixed on Thee’ based on Hebrew 12:1-3.

“We invite those who love good, theologically-sound preaching and are looking for a great New Year in 2012, to come out and be a part of a week-long fellowship that will change your life forever in the name of Jesus,” said Pastor Smith.

“Our dynamic speakers will not only impart the Word with power and conviction, but they will share Christ-centered messages that help you experience the fullness of God in your daily living.”

On Monday, Pastor John DeRon Johnson of Calvary C.M.E. Church in Pasadena will preach. Rev. Johnson is also the presiding elder of the Los Angeles-San Diego District of the Southern California Region of the C.M.E. Church.

Service continues on Tuesday with Rev. Julio Andujo, pastor of Hayes Tabernacle C.M.E. Church in Los Angeles, and on Wednesday with Rev. U.L. Butts, pastor of Phillips Chapel C.M.E. Church in Santa Monica.

Rev. Michael J. T. Fisher, pastor of Greater Zion Church Family in Compton, will deliver the sermon on Thursday. Closing out the week will be Rev. Najuma Smith-Pollard, associate minister at Christ Our Redeemer A.M.E. Church in Irvine where Rev. Mark Whitlock is the pastor.
