The Annual Prayer Breakfast and Missionary Day will be held this weekend at Curry Temple C.M.E. Church, 322 West Rosecrans Avenue in Compton, announced Pastor Byron L. Smith Sr.

“We invite the public to join us at our Prayer Breakfast on Saturday, January 28, at 10 a.m. Our guest speaker will be Rev. Edwin Williams of New Prospect Baptist Church in Los Angeles,” said Rev. Smith.

“The theme is ‘God Answers Prayer’ taken from Matthew 7:7-8,” said Coordinators Darlene Snead and Stephanie Washington. “The ticket donation is $20 in advance and $25 at the door.”

On Sunday, January 29, at 10:15 a.m., Annual Missionary Day will be observed and Pastor Smith said, “We are saluting the outstanding work of our Women’s Missionary Society and everyone is invited to attend this spirit-filled service.”

Mrs. Maguerite Carter, national president of Church Women United, will speak on the theme, ‘What is Your Mission – Believing in Something Bigger Than Yourself’ based on II Chronicles 7:14.

The WMS officers include Linda Bailey, president; Robin Moten, vice president; Tara Aston, secretary;  and Bettye Nichols, president emeritus.

For information about both events, call the church office (310) 632-8104.
