Queen Aminah, owner of Queen Aminah Fashions on Market Street in Downtown Inglewood, recently conducted a Rights of Passage Exercise for students at Crenshaw High School as a part of her annual series of Black History Month programs and activities provided for students throughout the Los Angeles Unified and Inglewood Unified School Districts.

The Rights of Passage program featured an entire day of activities designed to bolster the self-esteem of the young women who participated in the program as well as a broad range of workshops covering such topics as African Cultural Awareness, Black History Makers, Arts and Crafts, African Dance, a fashion show displaying the complete collection of African fashions and attire, and other educational and fun activites.

Queen Aminah's annual Black Hisory Month presentations and programs typically feature an interactive lecture on African American history, African drummers and dancers, a lively question and answer session for the students and its finale is a fashion show featuring classmates of the students in attendance.

She said, "The programs we conduct on the elementary, middle school and high school campuses throughout the Los Angeles area are designed to engage and entertain the students, provide an inter-active lesson on Black history, and stimulate their desire to achieve, do well in school, and stimulate their interest in African as well as African-American culture and history."

Queen Aminah's African Boutique in the bustling section of Inglewood's downtown shopping area features a complete collection of authentic African attire for male and female, adults and children. She also offers a broad selection of authentic African collectibles including wood carvings, prints, artwork, jewelry and other items for one's "African Collection."
