The Cynthia Perry Ray Foundation, a nonprofit outreach ministry of the Gardena Valley and Vicinity Ministers’ Wives and Ministers’ Widows Sisterhood Connection, will soon present its Annual Awards Musical Luncheon and Gloria G. Taylor Scholarship Presentation.

The occasion is set for Saturday, April 7, at 12 noon, at the Holiday Inn Gateway Hotel, 19800 South Vermont Avenue in Torrance.

“We extend an invitation to all in the community to join us. This year’s theme, ‘Visionary Involvement Through Civic Engagement,’ will spotlight the works and generosity of people who are leading the charge in helping to make this world a better place to live in,” said Mrs. Kathye D. Jenkins, CPR founder and president.

The late Rev. Eugene Williams III will receive the Kathye Jenkins Founder’s Award. He was the CEO and National Director of the Regional Congregations and Neighborhood Organizations Training Center and co-founder of the USC Passing the Mantle Program.

Also, Pastor Scuffie and First Lady Alyce Shigg of Love Lifted Me Ministries will receive the Prudence D. Wright Humanitarian Award; the Reverend Frank Jackson, Jr., of the Group of Village Companies and USC Center for Religion and Civic Culture will be given the Sandra Scranton-Lee Academic Award; Pastor John H. Edwards III of Missionaries for Christ will be the Peggy Talley Simmons Inspiration Award recipient; and Sister Brittany Hampton and Sister Beverly Marie Burgess of Just Do Good will be presented the Ellee Evans-Henderson Encouragement Award.

Mrs. Jenkins added, “Our new project, ‘Pearl’s Pantry,’ which was named in honor of one of our charter members, Mrs. Pearl Lee Moseley, has been in the developmental stages since last summer and will be unveiled at the luncheon. The ‘Pantry’ is a health and wellness center that will provide resources on healthier living. We will focus on being ‘heart smart’ this year.”

Music will be provided by Pastor Clarence Kirkwood and the First New Rising Sun Male Chorus; Pastor Prentiss Lewis, and Lady Rose Neale. Paid reservations are required and available by calling (310) 567-4231 or (323) 573-3190, or emailing Vendor space is available as well.
