Congresswoman Richardson Announces Completion of $834,000 U.S. Department of Transportation Grant to Complete Carson Bus Purchase Program
Today, Congresswoman Laura Richardson announced the U.S. Department of Transportation will award Carson $225,720 to purchase buses for public transportation. These funds are the final installment of a four year grant program totaling $834,000 for the city.
“These buses will help build up Carson’s ability to provide its residents with safe and convenient transportation around their city,” said Congresswoman Richardson. “With unemployment still at 10.4 percent in Carson and our economy still recovering from the recession, affordable transportation has been lifeblood for countless Carson residents, giving them reliable access to employment, stores and schools for a low price. This four year grant from the Department of Transportation is a prime example of how federal funds are being shared at the local level for the benefit of everyone in the community.”
This $225,720 grant installment for Carson includes $56,430 to purchase one bus, another $56,430 to purchase one trolley bus vehicle and $112,860 to purchase two Tripper buses. Carson received delivery of these buses last week.
