Congresswoman Janice Hahn Welcomes U.S. Secretary of Transportation Anthony Foxx

Congresswoman Janice Hahn (CA-44) released the following statement on U.S. Secretary of Transportation Anthony Foxx visit to the Port of Los Angeles this week:

“As a representative of the country’s busiest port complex, I am happy to welcome U.S. Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx to the Port of Los Angeles to see firsthand USDOT’s investments at the Port. Our nation’s ports are vital engines of our economy and are responsible for millions of jobs in port communities and across the country. During today’s visit, we had an opportunity to tour the West Basin Railyard project – a critical infrastructure projectthat USDOT is investing in through TIGER grants. The West Basin Railyard project is the construction of an intermodal yard that will be a vital link between the ports of Los Angeles, Long Beach and the Alameda Corridor.Thanks to the commitment of USDOT, the project received a $16 million TIGER grant that will help mitigate disruptions to commercial activity. These type of important infrastructure investments are essential to improving the efficiency and global competiveness of our ports and our nation’s economy.”
