COGIC Women’s Convention Set

The 45th State Women’s Convention of Southern California First Jurisdiction Church of God in Christ will convenes Thursday, July 21,  through Sunday, July 24, at the Desert Springs J. W. Marriott Resort & Spa, 74855 Country Club Drive in Palm Desert. Bishop Joe L. Ealy is Jurisdictional Prelate and Dr. Barbara McCoo Lewis is Supervisor of Women and President of the convention.

The theme is ‘Praying Women Focused on God’s Agenda for the Church’ and Dr. Lewis said, “Delegates from Southern California and abroad come to experience life changing sessions and services that are power-packed and spirit-filled. These services will provide women with a clear vision of their God-given purpose.”

The convention opens with a musical Thursday night at 7 p.m., featuring musical guest PRAIZUM. Dr. Lewis will teach and lead early Morning Prayer on Friday and Saturday morning at 8 a.m. Bishop Ealy will bring the official message on Sunday at 3 p.m.

Among the speakers are Regional and District Missionary LaVerne James; Evangelist Frances Kelley, National Prayer Warrior COGIC; Evangelist Michelle Gibson, First Lady Breakthrough COGIC; Evangelist Joyce Rodgers, International Chairlady Youth Department, Denton, Texas; Rev. Lenore A. Artis, Newark, New Jersey.

Other highlights include the Annual Leadership Conference, thought-provoking workshops, licensing of new Evangelist Missionaries class of 2011 School of Licensing, Sunday brunch, street witnessing, Banner March, and the Ruth and Naomi Mentoring Fellowship Breakfast with young women, 49 and under.
