Shannon Faulk, recently elected Southern California Region Lay Leader of the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church, invites the public to the National Connectional Lay Day worship experience at Calvary C.M.E. Church, 135 Glorieta St., Pasadena, on Sunday, October 13, at 4 p.m.

The Rev. Dr. Charley Hames Jr., of Beebe Memorial Cathedral in Oakland will be the speaker.

Faulk, a young C.M.E. leader and community servant, believes in “helping others and the community.”  He serves on the Advisory Team of the National Young Adult Council and the Board of Trustees at Hays Tabernacle C.M.E.

Previously, Faulk served as vice president of the C.M.E. Young Adult Council representing the United States, Africa, Haiti and Jamaica.

As a local entrepreneur, Faulk operates an independent insurance agency with Farmers Insurance. “Our goal is to help people understand their financial situation, minimize risk and prepare for the future,” he said.

At an early age, he learned the importance of an education and community service. “Advancing causes of the less fortunate and reaching back to help others is my passion,” notes Faulk.

He recently was appointed Director of Guide Right young male mentorship program for Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Los Angeles Alumni Chapter, which mentors and counsels teenage African American males.  Faulk also serves on the Board of Governors for the Los Angeles National History Museum.
