Change is upon us

President Barack Obama's presidency is significantly memorable because it represents a lifetimes worth of work and effort. More importantly it represents a lifetimes worth of work and effort paying off.

Our ancestors bled for this country so that one day we would have an opportunity to lead this great nation to the "promise land". The "promise land", was coined by the late great Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. who this month would have turned 80 years old.

King dreamed of a nation where an individual wouldn't be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.

The hard work and struggle of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and our ancestors paid off when President Barack Obama was sworn into oval office on Tuesday afternoon, but more importantly Obama's presidential inaugural ceremony represented the bright future we have ahead of us as a nation and world.

We now can teach our children to dream for change. Change not of just of political power, but change to a world where we are not at constatnt war and fightning a homeless battle daily.

We also continue to fight a suicidal mind state that goes along with gangs and drugs. We have to rid of this ill behavior before it destroys our homes and communities.

The leader of the free world is of now of African decent and it is definitely a great victory for America considering her dark past but yet and still America has so much further to go.

Our schools are infected with illiteracy. Abuse is tearing down our homes and families. Our televisions are infested with lies and deceit. Our communities are infected with gangs and drugs. Our judicial system is corrupted and bought. Our jails are over packed and our tax dollars are being spent frivolously.

It's to a point where ill behavior is being accepted by the masses because we are constantly experiencing a lack of justice and witnessing violent behavior.

So many common folk resort to a life of crime because they feel it's their only choice.

South Los Angeles is a perfect example because it is a war zone and we have to rid of the infectious deadly behavior that is gangs and violence.

Martin Luther King, Jr. taught non-violence and practiced the non-violent movement because only then would the evil doers see their wrong doing and be exposed for who they are.

America has to evolve to become a better nation not just from a technological standpoint, but from an emotional and spiritual standpoint as well. We have to resurrect respect from the root of the word and try to become understanding of the times we face ahead.

Unfortunately, racial divide is still relevant even with a black President in office. We are in the midst of arguably our worst economic time in history. With all that we face as a nation and world we must not let the negative behavior and wrong doers keep us down.

Instead, let us use the negative energy in the world to influence and fuel us to do that much better and more with our lives. Let us C.H.A.N.G.E. for the better and make 2009 the best year it can possibly be.

Change meaning:

Constant growth and evolution.

Heroic behavior and will power.

Ancestral respect and reflectance.

National pride and acceptance.

God all mighty by our side.

Everyone together, all for one and one for all.
