As part of the Crenshaw and LAX Transit Project, Metro’s contractor, Walsh-Shea Corridor Constructors (WSCC) will be closing off Centinela Avenue. Located between Beach and Florence Avenue, the closure is necessary for the construction of the at-grade crossing. The work consists of demolition, excavation, back filling with ballast installation of duct banks, rail and components, and minor street improvements. Locals can continue to look out for the street closure that began on Sunday, March 12 at 9:00 p.m. and will be ongoing through Friday, March 17, until 4:00 p.m. With the weather permitting on all three streets, residents can expect full closure at Centinela and Florence. Right and left turns are restricted on both corners. The east side of Centinela between Florence and Beach Avenue will be closed. Local access to La Colina Drive will be maintained. Drivers will be guided by flaggers at the corners of La Colina and Beach. One southbound lane on Centinela will be closed between Beach and Hyde Park Boulevard. Traffic going north on Centinela must turn right on La Brea Avenue and then left on Centinela. Traffic that travels south on Centinela must turn right La Brea and then turn left on Florence. There is an eastbound lane reduction on Centinela when approaching La Brea.
