Celebs Announced for Tom Joyner’s 2010 Fantastic Voyage

Tom Joyner’s 11th annual Fantastic Voyage, a.k.a. the “Ultimate Party with a Purpose,” is gearing up to set sail from Miami from May 16 to May 23 with a jam-packed line-up of musical acts, comedians, seminars, black art auction and Caribbean excursions.
Kevon Edmonds, Joe, Ledisi and KEM will lead an all-star tribute to the legendary R&B great Frankie Beverly, whose musical career spans more than 30 years. Other featured artists on the cruise include Charlie Wilson, Chuck Brown, Doug E Fresh and legendary funk groups Dazz Band, Ohio Players, Con Funk Shun and The Bar-Kays.
Joyner will host some 3000 guests on the seven day, six night cruise aboard the Royal Caribbean International’s Voyager of the Seas, which will sail to St. Maarten, St. Thomas, VI and Coco Cay, Bahamas.
The cruise will also feature CNN’s Soledad O’Brien hosting a “Black in America” panel for the third consecutive year, Joyner hosting a second consecutive seminar with presidents of several of the nation’s black colleges.
Political commentator Roland Martin will conduct a one-on-one interview with Minister Louis Farrakhan; author Terry McMillan will read from her latest book “Getting to Happy” as part of Sybil’s Book Club; and K-Ci & JoJo will join Omarosa and a host of celebrity reality stars as well as TV One hosts to participate in several activities.
Also, rapper Common will perform and screen his new movie, “Just Wright,” and “Project Runway” finalist Korto Momolu will show off her latest collection in a pool-side fashion show.
A 20th anniversary concert celebrating the film “House Party” is also scheduled, featuring Kid N Play, Full Force, Lisa Lisa, Chubb Rock, Force MDs, Montell Jordan, Kangol Kid of UTFO and DJ Wiz.
Comedians J. Anthony Brown, Gary Owen, Marvin Dixon, Damon Williams, AJ Jamal and Kier will be spreading the laughter in venues throughout the ship while more than a half dozen celebrated DJs – including Captain Charles, Cut Creator, Hollywood, Mixx Master Mitch, Vince Adams and Wiz – will be keeping cruise-goers dancing all week long.
For golfers, there’s a nine-hole scramble at St. Thomas’ Mahogany Run. There’s a “Shop ‘Til You Drop” excursion in St. Thomas. Aboard the ship, there will be an art exhibit and auction, featuring original works from Twin, Annie Lee, Frank Frazier and Leroy Campbell.
Throughout the weeklong cruise, there’ll be a host of celebrities relaxing and participating in the events, including Mekhi Phifer, Dr. J, Alonzo Mourning, Star Jones, Sanaa Hamri, Dru Hill, Kym Whitley and Malcolm-Jamal Warner.
For the past 11 years, the cruise has raised more than $1 million each year for the Tom Joyner Foundation, which has the sole purpose of raising scholarship money to help keep students in black colleges.
