A “healthy baby celebration” is held annually by Great Beginnings to celebrate the birth of healthy children of parents enrolled in its’ Black Infant Health (BIH) program.
Great Beginnings for Black Babies (GBBB) is a non-profit organization founded in 1990. Changing the personal health habits of women of childbearing age to ensure healthy birth outcomes by stopping the needless dying of Black babies was one of the first tasks identified by the founders. Since 1990, GBBB has been a forerunner in the fight to prevent and reduce infant mortality.
“This health fair is our gift to our many clients and to the community as a whole. It’s time that we put our health and the health of our children, especially those unborn, at the forefront,” commented BIH Program Manager Tifany Willis.
This “Celebrating Healthy Babies–Past, Present and Future” health fair is being made possible by the California Department of Public Health, the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health and First 5 L.A.
