California MWMW Elects New Leader

Lady Evelyn Perkins

First Lady Evelyn Perkins is the new president of the California State Ministers’ Wives and Ministers’ Widows (CMWMW).

Lady Perkins, who will serve a two-year term, is the wife of Dr. James A. Perkins, pastor of True Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in Inglewood.

Her selection was announced during the CMWMW 35th Annual Conference held April 11 -13 at the Courtyard by Marriott in Culver City and Liberty Baptist Church in Los Angeles led by Pastor Terry Brown.

The hosts were State President Barbara Watkins and President Mary Cotton of the Inglewood and Vicinity Ministers’ Wives and Ministers’ Widows Local.

Ministers’ wives and widows from throughout the state enjoyed worship services, workshops, a tour of the Los Angeles area, and ‘Honey Date Night’ celebrating clergy marriages of 20 or more years. The conference concluded with the Installation Banquet.

Participants included Pastor Clinton Benton of Upper Room Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church, Pastor Ricky Williams of St. John Baptist Church in Palo Alto, San Diego Local President Ruby Hunt, Inland Empire Local President Thomasena Brown and Dean Carol Manuel.
