Compton Mayor Aja Brown will be the guest speaker for the Women’s History Month/Youth Sunday celebration scheduled for Sunday, March 16, at 9 a.m., at Brookins Community A.M.E. Church, 4831 South Gramercy Place in Los Angeles.
“We are excited to have Mayor Brown join us and share words to inspire youth, young adults and mature believers,” said Pastor Gregory K. McLeod.
“She is a dynamic, spiritual young lady and we urge you to bring the young people in your life to hear her uplifting message.”
Aja Brown is the youngest person in the city’s history to be elected Mayor. Often called a ‘strategic visionary,’ her focus since assuming office last June is on improving the quality of life for Compton’s residents and stakeholders.
Over the last nine months, Mayor Brown has implemented a range of community initiatives emphasizing public safety, beautification, transparency and health. Also, she established a First Source Hiring Agreement to improve the city’s employment rate and provide incentives for development.
A graduate of the University of Southern California, Mayor Brown holds a Bachelor’s degree in Public Policy, Urban Planning and Development and a Master’s degree in Urban Planning.
