Fashion comes and goes. The times are changing and so does the clothes. Shorts are popularly worn in the spring and summer, while long pants are mostly worn in the fall and winter. Styles have come and gone such as wearing your hat backwards or to the side. Wearing a short sleeve t-shirt over a long sleeve t-shirt, or wearing baggy jeans and etc.

But now there is a new clothing fad in town. They are called skinny jeans or skinnies, which are now being worn by males (boys and men)! Yes! Boys and Men!

Skinny jeans are also known as slim-fit-pants have a snug fit through the legs and end in a small leg opening that can be anywhere from 9″ to 20″ depending on the size. They are also called, drainpipes, stovepipes, cigarette pants, pencil pants, or skinny pants.

I asked a few colleagues of mine both males and females and asked them what do they think about guys wearing skinny jeans?

“I think it’s cute as long as they’re not sagging. I like jeans that fit and can pair up with a nice pair of classic shoes.”-Meidrah Tyler, Pierce College

“I think that it’s fine as long as they wear it to their fitting. If it becomes to tight then I think there is a problem. I get that it is a now fashion for skinny jeans in the men’s department, but they can only pull it off to a certain extent.”-Bina Emerson, Pierce College.

“As far as skinnies are concerned, I like them. It’s an L.A. thing. I’m all about L.A., just as long as it doesn’t cause any health complications, were good. That says a lot coming from a Que dawg.” -Jesse Holloway, Tuskegee University

“You should wear whatever you feel comfortable.”-Denzel Codrington, St. John’s University

Skinny jeans are clothing that have been around for a while. They are nothing new. Skinnies first came out during the 1950’s and where around during the 70’s and the 80’s and now they are back in the 2000’s. Fashion doesn’t die, it just gets recycled. This is a fashion that is here now and will probably stay around for a period of time. Pretty soon before you know it, the skinny jeans fashion era will be long gone.

“I think that it looks good as long as they aren’t too tight. I like it way better than the baggy jeans look.” -Erin Adams, Columbia University.

“I know some men who look great in narrow cut jeans, but that doesn’t mean it’s for everyone. But yeah that’s my opinion. Skinny jeans don’t bother me as long as they fit well and make the guy look good. I know some people think it’s feminine for a guy to war tight clothing, but it doesn’t bother me at all.” -Lauren M. De Lilly, USC

All in all, at the end of day you wear what you want to wear. It’s your choice.
