Bruce Boyden, a nationally renowned educator, has joined St. Timothy’s Early Childhood Music Conservatory as Superintendent of Instruction and Chief Pedagogista.

The conservatory, operated by St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church and School, is located at 312 South Oleander Avenue in Compton. It serves children ages two-to-five, using music as a central component in learning.

“I am profoundly happy to join with St. Timothy’s in this newly created position, and look forward to working with the students, families, and community to co-construct a rigorous, academic program that addresses the needs of underserved students facing a new technological millennium of worldwide competition,” said Boyden.

Boyden was educated in the Compton Unified School District and graduated from Pepperdine University. He completed graduate studies at Harvard, Stanford, George Washington, LaVerne, and Trinity Universities and courses in early childhood education at Compton College and CSU-Dominguez.

He has served with Charles Drew University Early Head Start Program, Council for Professional Development, National Association for the Education of Young Children, Compton Community College District Board of Trustees and as chair of the Compton Community College District Bond Oversight Committee.

A California credentialed Child Development Program Director, Boyden is also CEO of Educational Support Services.

Founded in 1925, the St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church is a member of the Los Angeles Diocese and a long time servant of the city of Compton. St. Timothy’s opened its school in 1956, an affordable senior housing manor in 1965, and a 114-unit HUD facility in 1970.
