On October 1, the Association of Black Women Physicians will open its welcome door inviting everyone to celebrate their 35th Anniversary of successful community giving and health education that has empowered generations of Black women. Pat Harvey, CBS2/KCAL9 award-winning and internationally recognized broadcast journalist, will receive the Humanitarian of the Year Award. Her career has been stellar.
The Lifetime Achievement Award deservingly will be presented to Dr. Alice Tolbert Coombs. Her incredible journey began in Compton, CA and led her to medical training at the prestigious Mass General Hospital and Presidency of the Massachusetts Medical Society. Both honorees are truly outstanding Black women.
Just as Radio KJLH host Adai Lamar wakes up Los Angeles every weekday morning, she will certainly keep this audience awake as the Mistress of Ceremony. This Annual Charity and Scholarship Benefit funds scholarships for extraordinary medical students. This year, $30,000 will be awarded to these exceptional women who, in turn, will provide future culturally sensitive medical care targeted to impact underserved patients and communities. The benefit also funds the numerous signature community and medical programs sponsored by ABWP.
The Star Gala will be filled with many other unforgettable surprises beginning at 6pm on October 1 at the JW Marriott L.A. LIVE at 900 W. Olympic Blvd, Los Angeles, CA. For more information, visit www.blackwomenphysicians.org or call (310) 881-2761.
