New York’s finest: The charitable couple always bring their A-game to fashion galas.

In the media, Black love can be portrayed in a negative way, however, there are certain celebrities that negate biased images slanted towards Black couples.

In wake of Black History month, we salute power couples that make love and relationship in Hollywood look good.

Star of VH1’s “La La’s Full Court Life” LaLa Anthony and New York Knicks NBA player Carmelo Anthony are regarded as a power couple. The Brooklyn, NY natives have proven that it is possible to juggle a high-profile marriage, career and family in the spotlight.  LaLa and Melo were recently one of three Ebony magazine covers showcasing Black celebrities who represent Black love. The February issue recognizes successful and positive power couples.

LaLa known as the MTV VJ on “Total Request Live” met Carmelo who played for the Denver Nuggets in the early 2000s.

Melo proposed to her on Christmas Day in 2004, three years later their son, Kiyan Carmelo Anthony was born and on July 10, 2010 they were married by Michael Eric Dyson at Cipriani’s in New York. Wedding ceremony premiered on her reality series, “LaLa’s Full Court Wedding.” The show chronicles Melo and LaLa’s relationship and career in New York.

Despite the hex on reality TV and couples, their show has yet to deter their marriage.

LaLa who is not only a TV personality, is an actress who starred in “Think Like A Man,” “Baggage Claim” and will be in “Think Like A Man Too.”  Not only an actress, but an entrepreneur, she has developed her make-up line, Motives Cosmetics and clothing line, 5th & Mercer.

Aside from being a superstar ball player, Carmelo is a huge philanthropist who gives back to the community and underprivileged children.

The equally yoked couple embody class and simplicity with a mix of cool and sophistication. Not to mention they are a stylish and sexy couple who are a fixture in the press. They’re a staple at galas and on the red carpet.

LaLa has taken her experience with love and relationships and turned into a book, “The Love Playbook:Rules for Love, Sex, and Happiness,” giving a play-by-play guide to healthy relationships, finding love and being yourself. Published right before Valentine’s Day, the book stands to be a page tuner, teaching men how to treat a woman to dealing with a fickle friend, and, of course, how to snag a baller.
