A sacred and historic moment unfolded on May 16, as Dr. Michael J. Fisher, senior pastor of Greater Zion Church Family, was officially consecrated to the office of bishop.

The Consecration Service, held at Center of Hope Church in Inglewood, brought together a cross-section of Southern California’s faith community to witness the elevation of one of Los Angeles’ most influential spiritual leaders.

The evening was marked by reverence and deep reflection on the sacredness of the office of bishop. Preaching the Consecration Homily was Bishop Kenneth C. Ulmer, pastor emeritus of Faithful Central Bible Church and spiritual father to Bishop Fisher. His message spoke profoundly to the divine weight of episcopal leadership — calling attention to the sacred responsibility, spiritual maturity, and selfless service required to walk in such a calling.

The service was led by Chief Consecrator Bishop Cortez J. Vaughn, who expressed his heartfelt support and excitement for what is to come.

“We are eager to witness the great things Bishop Fisher will bring forth. This is only the beginning,” he said.

The moment was made even more memorable by Bishop Fisher’s own heartfelt reflection: “I used to laugh at guys who called themselves bishops and wore funny hats. I grew up a Baptist boy. To witness what the Lord has done is truly astonishing.”

Now officially consecrated, Bishop Fisher stands as a trailblazing leader whose reach spans well beyond his pulpit. As senior pastor of Greater Zion Church Family, he is the spiritual leader of three thriving campuses in Compton, Corona, and Northridge. He is also the chief spiritual advisor to the City Council of Compton and provides covering for more than 10 pastors nationwide through his Sons in the Ministry network — impacting more than 100 churches across the country.

His partnerships extend across denominations and faith traditions, serving in national capacities with Global United Fellowship, Eagles Wings Ministries, and the Zioness Movement, which represents interfaith collaboration and social justice engagement.

The consecration was attended by a host of civic and religious leaders, along with several key figures from the Los Angeles church community, all standing in support of Bishop Fisher’s elevation. It was not just a personal milestone, but a celebration of spiritual legacy, generational leadership, and a future filled with purpose.

As Bishop Fisher steps fully into this next chapter, his leadership continues to redefine what it means to serve the people of God — boldly, humbly, and faithfully.
