Duke Media Foundation and Educating Young Minds To Co-Host Special Media Boot Camp for Students Age 14-18

LOS ANGELES — The Duke Media Foundation and Educating Young Minds (both 501c3 corporations) have jointly announced the first annual Bill Duke Youth and Media Boot Camp will be held for boys and girls ages 14 – 18. Organizers of the partnership are currently accepting applications for a limited enrollment for the free media camp.

Twenty-four students will be selected to participate during two 10-week sessions (12 students each) scheduled to begin in early March upon completion of interviews, according to producer/director Bill Duke and EYM Founder/CEO Ms. Angeles Echols. EYM will host all sessions at its mid-Wilshire Blvd. offices.

Bill Duke’s Youth & Media Boot Camp is a specially-designed course to expose and prepare gifted high school students to the multi-disciplines of new and converging media, including film and video production, the business of virtual worlds, video game development, animation, financial literacy and entrepreneurship. A staff of media experts, producers, directors and guest lecturers will be featured during the program.

“We are excited to join forces with Bill Duke, one of the top film & TV directors, producers and mentors to young people in the performing arts industry, who will spearhead an incredible program for these special students,” said Ms. Echols.
