Assemblyman Mike Davis Recognizes Los Angeles Lakers Legend Kurt Rambis
On Saturday, August 15, 2009, Assemblyman Mike Davis presented Los Angeles Lakers legend Kurt Rambis with a Certificate of Recognition during a ceremony that took place on Nike Center Court at Nokia Plaza L.A. LIVE. Mr. Rambis was honored for his sportsmanship and commitment to the Los Angeles Lakers, as he departs to become Head Coach of the Minnesota Timberwolves. The ceremony was part of a three-day event that took place during the inaugural Lakers 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament presented by NIKE that was held on August 14-16, 2009 at the Staples Center and L.A. LIVE.
“Kurt Rambis has made significant contributions to the world of basketball as an all time scorer at Santa Clara University, outstanding player in the NBA during which he spent nine seasons with the Los Angeles Lakers, and made several coaching appearances with the Los Angeles Lakers organization, as well. He has been an asset to basketball and the California experience has served him well. I am confident Kurt is prepared to lead the Timberwolves,” remarked Assemblyman Mike Davis (D-Los Angeles).
Assemblyman Mike Davis is the current Chair of the Assembly Committee on Arts, Entertainment, Sports, Tourism and Internet Media and was elected to serve the 48th District in November of 2006. Located in Los Angeles County, the district is home to a myriad of diverse communities including: Arlington Park, Athens, Chesterfield Square, King Estates, Korea Town, Lafayette Park, Magnolia Square, North University Park, University Park, Vermont Knolls, West Adams, West Park Terrace and Wilshire Center.
