Assembly Member Steven Bradford issued the following statement congratulating Gardena Olympian Carmelita Jeter:
“I am excited and proud to congratulate Ms. Jeter on her amazing silver medal performance in London this weekend. Her dedication and hard work serve as an inspiration to all of us, and she represented the 51st District, and America, admirably overseas.
“It was my honor and pleasure being her neighbor in Gardena, watching her grow into a gifted athlete, and a dedicated neighbor, daughter, sister, and citizen. She inspires me and the entire community and country.”
Carmelita Jeter won the silver medal in the 100m sprint with a time of 10.78 seconds, the fastest runnerup time in Olympic history.
