Eclectic, electrifying, four-time Grammy nominee Angelique Kidjo will perform at the University of Southern California on March 26, 2009. Unchallenged as the best-known African female singer of her generation, Kidjo creatively blends funk, salsa, jazz, rumba, pop, rock and her African roots into songs that are pleasing to the ear and warming to the soul.

Angelique Kidjo was born in the port village of Cotonou located in Benin. The political turmoil in her country led her to relocate to Paris, the capital of world music, and then ultimately to New York City, where she now resides.

Her newest album, Djin Djin recently won the 2008 Grammy for best contemporary world album. In Djin Djin, Kidjo returns to the soul of Benin and for the first time shares it with cast of all-star guests including: Josh Groban, Alicia Keys, Peter Gabriel, Carlos Santana, Joss Stone and Ziggy Marley. The album is a marriage of cultures that celebrates the beauty of unity and diversity Kidjo achieves through her art.

A firm believer in the power of music, Kidjo uses her fame and talent to promote worthy causes she passionately supports such as the fight against AIDS. Kidjo currently serves as a goodwill ambassador forUNICEF and has performed in world-renowned benefit concerts such as LIVE 8, BlackBall, Roll Back Malaria, We are the Future, and 46664.

USC Spectrum is proud to present Angelique Kidjo live in concert at Bovard Auditorium located on the campus of the University of Southern California. Come join us for a memorable night and spectacular performance bound to o?ffer an enlivening global perspective to music.
