Members of Alpha Kappa Alpha’s Sigma Lambda Omega Chapter in the San Fernando Valley at last year’s Afternoon Tea Scholarship Fundraiser.

Enjoy the lovely sounds of saxophonist Keschia Potter, as Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Sigma Lambda Omega Chapter located in the San Fernando Valley presents its 3rd Annual Afternoon Tea and Scholarship Fundraiser at the beautiful Calabasas Country Club on Saturday, June 9th from 2:00 – 5:00 PM. Tea attire, including hats is encouraged. A raffle and silent auction will be held. Tickets are available until June 1st at

Since its chartering in 1990, Sigma Lambda Omega Chapter has emphasized supporting deserving college-bound students with their expenses through scholarship awards. The Annual Afternoon Tea is the chapter’s preeminent fundraising endeavor. Five scholarship recipients will be awarded $2,000 each in front of an anticipated sellout crowd of 280 guests. Chapter President, Tamla Roberts, stated, “We are so excited to be awarding five scholarships this year; three more than last year. It is because of the continued generosity of our loyal guests that we are able to do so.” Since its inception, the event has nearly doubled in size.
