On Sunday, September 9, as part of a series of special events entitled, ‘Sing of Peace, Stand for Liberation,’ Agape International Spiritual Center presents ‘A Concert for Peace’ featuring Dwight Trible and the Cosmic Band with special guest, Nailah Porter.

Dr. Rickie Byars Beckwith, Agape Music and Arts Director said, “We recognize that something momentous happened on 9/11 and we choose to commemorate the 11th anniversary from a place of peace.

“We free our minds to see we really are a global community and that we could perhaps invite a conversation about what really works as opposed to what’s falling apart.”

Dr. Beckwith continued, “Dwight Trible is a world class jazz musician, an artist who is free in his soul. His singing is rooted in ancient African culture. It gives us something we can’t get elsewhere. Dwight sings about things that really do matter.”

Trible is not content to just entertain people. His music helps to bring people together, to bridge the gap between different races and to help to heal the human heart. There is a spiritual component to Trible’s performance that has led to him being described as ‘a preacher who turns any material into a song of praise.’

He said, “When I have an opportunity to sing, I feel that I owe the audience the best that I know and the best I can give. There are two things that are the foundation of my work. They are that the Creator is in control, and that we should love one another.  When you listen to me sing, you will have no doubt that this is where I am coming from.”

Tickets are $20 in advance, online at, or $25 at the door.

Other featured events are on September 23, ‘GlobalWorks Sunday,’ 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., and Sunday, September 30, at 3 p.m., ‘The Exonerated,’ a play with panel discussion led by Agape founder, Rev. Michael Bernard Beckwith, about six people sentenced to Death Row for crimes they didn’t commit.

Agape Center is located at 5700 Buckingham Parkway in Culver City. Call (310) 348-1250 for more information.
