Published February 19, 2009

The Association of Black City Attorneys (ABCA) is holding its annual luncheon on Thursday, February 19, 2009 from 11:30 – 1:30 p.m. at the African American Fire Fighter Museum, 1401 S. Central Ave., Los Angeles, 90021. At the luncheon, the ABCA will be among others, honoring Yvonne Brathwaite Burke (Los Angeles County Supervisor (Retired)), Janet Jackson (Deputy City Attorney), Christine Larson (Fire Captain) and D'Lisa Davies (Los Angeles City Fire, Public Information Officer). As ABCA moves forward with another exciting month of black history, it is only appropriate to acknowledge these tremendous leaders in the City of Los Angeles.

Respectively, Yvonne Brathwaite Burke has provided over 30 years of civil service and served as California's First African American Congresswoman. Janet Jackson is currently part of the City of Los Angeles Fire Department General Counsel's Offices. Christine Larson served as the First African American Female Fire Captain, and D'Lisa Davies was the First African American Female Fire Fighter. All of their careers are regarded by the ABCA as truly extraordinary.

Throughout the years, the ABCA has had the pleasure of honoring many African American professionals. This year's luncheon is no exception. Black History Month is the ideal time to honor the unprecedented careers of these women and their influences on their family, friends, and their communities within Los Angeles.

Tickets for the luncheon are $25 per person and parking will be provided free of charge. To R.S.V.P. for the luncheon, please email Kimberly Willis at For further information about the Annual Black History Lunch, please contact Capri Maddox at (213) 712-2369.
