Clint and Shawntrice Johnson, publishers and creators of the Faith Walkers Christian comic series, will share the story of their success at the Black History Month celebration sponsored by Barnes and Noble at the Grove.
The free event takes place on Thursday, Feb. 23, at 7 p.m., at 189 The Grove Drive, in Los Angeles.
The husband and wife duo will join African American authors Lawrence Oliver Keeble (“Globes Disease”) and LaRita Shelby (“The Brand Beside The Brand) to discuss the creativity and marketing needed to publish a book.
Their company, M25:20 Media, and its subsidiary, Christian Action Hero Universe (CAHU), produces graphic novels, activity books, trading cards, clothing and live action shows. Also, Clint conceived the “Matthew Cross – Faith Walker” series. During the day, Cross is a street preacher, but at night, he hits the street as Faith Walker, fighting crime while quoting scriptures in the fictional City of Los Cosmos.
An artist, writer and designer since his youth, Clint said, “The Lord gifted me with these talents to spread the good news of Jesus Christ and creatively share the gospel with youth in a way that they will receive it.
“So, why not have superheroes that acknowledge and understand that they have power through the Holy Ghost and they can do all things through Christ who strengthens them.”
Clint, who is an assistant pastor at La Mirada Foursquare Church, also serves on the Board of Directors for The Christian Comic Arts Society. Shawntrice worked 19 years as a LAPD officer before resigning to become the chief operating officer of their two businesses.
“Our mission is to ‘Take the Light to the Fight’ and our vision is to develop a global ministry that utilizes characters with a cause to promote principles and virtues. Christian Action Heroes equips and encourage families to be a light in their communities according to the Word of God,” said Shawntrice.
“I hope we’ll be able to inspire people with the stories we have to tell,” added Clint.
