Their goal is to reduce the mortality rate among African-American women through health education and promoting early detection with self-breast examinations, clinical breast examinations and mammography services. Currently Breast Cancer ranks second among the causes of cancer deaths among African-American Women, which is only exceeded by lung cancer (according to the California Department of Health Services).

Michelle Moore Bell, founder and president of The Wellness Group, Bell said, “I am extremely passionate about this campaign because there are no known ways to prevent breast cancer; however, early detection is the key to breast cancer survival.”
