Bank of America, GLAAACC 2011 Dinner Chair Supports and Celebrates 20th Yr. GLAAACC Anniversary

The Greater Los Angeles African American Chamber of Commerce (GLAAACC) will celebrate their 18th Annual Economic Awards Dinner at The Sheraton Los Angeles Downtown Hotel, located at 711 South Hope Street on Thursday, March 17, 2011 at 5:30pm. Bank of America will serve as this year’s Dinner Chair, celebrating the continued success of the GLAAACC organization whose motto is: “Building Economic & Political Coalitions.”

“Bank of America’s commitment to black-owned businesses is strong. By supporting the Greater Los Angeles African American Chamber of Commerce and other black chambers across California, we not only can help minority business owners grow, but also learn from them about their small business needs,” said Keith Drake, business banking executive, Bank of America. “In addition to lending, businesses tell us what they need is more business. Bank of America’s world-class supplier diversity program has pledged to purchase $10 billion in products and services from small, medium-sized and minority-owned businesses over the next five years.” 

The beautiful, talented, and gracious, Ms. Terri J. Vaughn, Film & Television Actress, will serve as this year’s Mistress of Ceremonies. The Keynote Speaker will be Marie C. Johns, Deputy Administrator, U.S. Small Business Administration.

Among this year’s honorees we have: John A. Pérez, Speaker of the California State Assembly, who is receiving the Julian C. Dixon Public Service Award, which is being presented by Los Angeles Mayor Antonio R. Villaraigosa; LA Council President Pro Tempore Jan Perry, District 9; Jack Surash, Deputy Assistant Secretary, Acquisition and Contract Management, United States Department of Energy, and Dan Rosenfeld, Senior Deputy for Economic Development Sustainability and Mobility, Office of Mark Ridley-Thomas, Second District Supervisor of County of Los Angeles.

Awards will also be presented to those businesses and individuals who have contributed to the economic growth and development of the African American community. The award recipients are gallant representatives of the ethics that have always propelled the African American community through dedication, commitment and purposeful conviction.

Under the leadership of Chairman Gene Hale and President Angela Gibson, the Greater Los Angeles African American Chamber of Commerce advocates and promotes the economic growth and development of African American businesses. To learn more please visit www.glaaacc.org.
