Councilman Herb Wesson with his constituents at the Memorial Park Annex ground-breaking
LOS ANGELES—Councilmember Herb J. Wesson, Jr., was joined by neighborhood leaders and community residents at the groundbreaking for $300,000 in improvements at the Benny H. Potter West Adams Avenues Memorial Park Annex.
The improvements include new walkways, new fitness equipment, new picnic tables and a metal picnic shelter, barbeques, drinking fountains, solar-powered security lighting, concrete paving, and decomposed granite paving. New trees will be planted, and there will be a new irrigation system for the park.
“This represents an important upgrade in the quality of amenities at this park,” said Councilmember Wesson. “We want our residents to be able to lead more active lives, and we’re determined to provide a safe and beautiful environment for our families to enjoy.”
Funded by Proposition K funds, the project has begun construction and is expected to be completed in August of 2012.
“The improvements at this park, along with the new tennis courts at Rancho Cienega Sports Complex, and the recently opened Westside Park are part of our commitment to enabling the residents of the 10th Council District to have the best recreational facilities in Los Angeles,” said Wesson.
