Wellington’s Road: Your Health is your Wealth!!
By Brian Carter, Sentinel Staff Writer
Most of the time, we feel fine…no pains or aches, nothing mysterious going on with our bodies and no immediate concerns. When we feel this way, we often feel there is no need to go to the doctor. Why go to the doctor? I feel ok, so everything must be ok, right? Wrong!
It’s not my intention to scare or panic anybody, but that kind of thinking can be hazardous to your health and even deadly. It’s important to get a checkup or physical done by your doctor or primary physician.
There are a lot of diseases that can be asymptomatic, meaning there are no symptoms and problems can go unchecked. Physicals or regular checkups allow the doctor to screen your health for all the possibilities.
Requesting labs is also a good idea when you go to see your doctor. Blood test will show if your body is functioning properly and if there are any abnormalities present. If there is something wrong, your doctor or physician will contact you.
Everyone should get an annual checkup or physical to continue living in good health. We can’t afford to put our heads in the sand and hope everything is ok. It is important for us to see our doctors or physicians especially when we’re sick off and on for periods of time…it could be something serious.
Our health is very important…it’s our wealth! It’s what allows us to be there for our families and friends who need us. Do yourself a favor and get a checkup and make sure that everything is in order with you.
