Food, haircuts, and manicures were among the gifts shared recently with the residents of the L.A. Mission by the Trinity Baptist Church Homeless Ministry.

Scores of volunteers, mobilized by Pastor Alvin Tunstill, Jr., and Homeless Advocate Brian Ferguson, united to present the ‘Love One Another Praise Dinner’ but the outing included more than just a meal.

“Not only did we feed 600 people, but we also gave over 60 haircuts, over 70 manicures, and over 50 foot washings. Most important, many people accepted Christ during this event,” said Ferguson.

Another highlight was the distribution of $4,000 in gifts and prizes such as laptop computers, toys and clothing. Also, several local gospel artists provided entertainment.

“We thank the L.A. Mission for allowing us to come into their facility to make this happen. A special thanks to everyone for using the gifts God gave you to bless the less fortunate,” Ferguson said.

Trinity’s Homeless Ministry will return to L.A. Mission on Saturday, June 23, at 8 a.m., to perform more foot washings as well distribute new shoes donated by Nike. Then, beginning in July, the group will start soliciting donations for Hygiene Packets for the homeless.

Soap, deodorant, hand towels, and other toiletries can be donated to the Homeless Ministry by visiting Trinity Baptist Church at 2040 West Jefferson Boulevard in Los Angeles or by calling (323) 735-0044.
