Top Ten Reasons Americans Are Insane
in·san·i·ty (n) 1 : a deranged state of the mind usually occurring as a specific disorder (as schizophrenia) 2 : such unsoundness of mind or lack of understanding as prevents one from having the mental capacity required by law to enter into a particular relationship, status, or transaction or as removes one from criminal or civil responsibility 3 : extreme folly or unreasonableness; something utterly foolish or unreasonable
It’s been said that Americans are a bit crazy.
Typically such statements are either said in partial jest, but mostly in seriousness when said by other nations.Â
And it’s true.
Many Americans live lives in complete contradiction to reality, and sadly, in complete contradiction to reason.
And, over the past fifty years, many Americans are living their lives in complete contradiction to anything that has order, sense or sound mentality.
To paraphrase Albert Einstein, we continue to do things in repetition, yet, we expect different results.
In yet another Top Ten List, here are my Top Ten Reasons Why Americans Are Insane:
Top Ten Reasons Why Americans Are Insane
1.     Many Americans believe that the mere existence of Barack Obama in the White House has ended racism.
It’s one thing to recognize that the election of a Black President is a huge step for a nation with the ugly history of racism that America has, but Jesus, to proclaim the nation as “Post-Race†is clearly insane, because it is “extreme folly and utterly foolish.†One man can change the world, but one man cannot change the course of an entire nation in less than one year. I suspect we won’t see the intrinsic impact of our first Black President for many years to come.
2.     Some Americans believe that there were weapons of mass destruction in Iraq.
George W. is a liar and a warmonger and anyone who doesn’t recognize it has taken a serious vacation from reality. He continued to change the location of the war, the target of the charge and the message of the action yet, his loony supporters thought he was a good president.
3.     Some Americans actually think that Iraq is better today than before being bombed and shot into the ground.
Some 72% of crazy Americans thought that Iraq was in an improved condition than before as of last year. And this number is lower than the 76% who thought so in 2005!
4.     Many Americans think that “Diet†soda has magical properties.
Go to any given fast food restaurant and watch people load up on the fatty meats, the fully-processed-into-nothing white bread and the sauces and greases and then order “diet†soda. The thinking that goes into that process is truly disturbed!
5.     Many Americans fight tooth and nail to keep sex education out of the schools.
Meanwhile, our children are bombarded with commercials for products that will get that thing harder, make it longer and make the other thing wetter, along with videos of everything bouncing out of undersized clothing and songs about doing perverted sexual things that have little to do with sex. And those who pursue the conflict mostly claim to be religious. God don’t like ugly!
6.     Speaking of schools, America has the craziest relationship with education.
We spend more on destruction (wars) than on building (schools) and more on arrested development (prisons and stupid television shows) than on forward movement (books, teachers, etc.). And other nations used to wonder how an idiot like George W got elected.
7.     Some Americans call themselves “Pro-Life†and then take lives.
All in the name of, well, in the name of something insane, many crazy Americans find justification in bombing clinics with pregnant women in them, so that they can deliver the message that it’s not okay to take lives. Okay…Gotcha!
8.     Americans pay taxes to support government programs, but some Americans complain when those taxes are used.
How crazy is it for us to finance a government that is supposed to be for, of and by us, but then allow some of us to make others of us feel bad for going to that government for assistance?
9.     Americans allow some drugs to be legalized, but draw lines against other, less harmful drugs.
I don’t even smoke marijuana, but I know that fewer people get in cars and fly off the freeway than people who drink legalized, yet addictive alcohol. AA (Alcoholics Anonymous) is far more widespread than NA (Narcotics Anonymous).
10. Finally, America has allowed its mental institutions to falter without a backup plan.
In the Eighties, Ronald Reagan pushed for the de-institutionalization of America, which sounded good, except that now, many of our mentally ill are homeless and either unwilling or unable to get proper care and so either commit violent anonymous crimes against others, or destroy themselves on the streets.
Go figure that American spends a great deal of time advising other nations, yet fails to take that advice itself. And go figure that Americans are losing in education, quality of products, and the general recycling of its own money.
Really, this nation needs to spend some time on a therapist’s couch.
America has lost its damned mind.
