There is a world of difference between the little (h) and the big (H)
Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (hCG) is a hormone produced during pregnancy. Males also produce hCG in the brain in the pituitary gland. The complexities of hormone interactions are too large a subject for this article, but let’s just say is complicated.
In 1950, Dr. Albert Simeons in Rome, Italy reported that hCG, when combined with a low caloric diet, would result in weight loss. He proposed the idea that hCG stimulated the brain’s hypothalamus to burn more body fat, especially in the mid-section – around the abs, thighs and buttocks areas.
As expected, controversy arose concerning this idea. Also as expected, some people tried to cut corners by making their own formula of HCG at home in the bath tub and selling it either online or on street corners.
Recently the FDA outlawed this practice and warned against the use of all medications produced outside of a regulated, controlled process.
•“Bath tub” hormone is labeled HCG
•Certified hormone is labeled hCG
To get the certified or authentic hCG, you need to obtain a prescription from a doctor, similar to prescriptions used for narcotic medications. Although there has been controversy around the use of hCG for weight loss, it has been found to be quite effective and safe to use for this purpose.
Dr. Oz Show spotlights hCG
Dr. Oz recently aired a 5-part series on the use of hCG for weight loss. If you’re interested in using this therapy for weight loss, I strongly suggest you view each episode.
Dr. Oz concluded that hCG works for weight loss and can be used safely.
WILL THE DIET WORK? IS THE DIET SAFE?
Yes is the answer to both question, however you must use it under medical supervision. It’s also important to select a physician who is knowledgeable about and qualified to administer hCG. Prior to use of any diet product, especially hCG, you must obtain medical clearance. All medications have potential side effects and contraindications and you want to have a weight loss plan customized for you, based on your health history.
Consider these guidelines as a rule:
•Do not limit your calories below 1,100 calories per day
•Plan to use the hCG diet for 21 to 40 days to see results
•Only use authentic hCG products prescribed by a physician who is familiar with hCG and the best ways to use it as part of your weight loss regime.
I have observed many patients who have benefitted greatly from an hCG program. Weight loss has medical benefits far beyond the obvious. Weight loss can extend and improve the quality of your life.
