Sentinel & Watts Times Editor Hospitalized

The Los Angeles Sentinel & L.A. Watts Times announced this week that Managing Editor, Yussuf Simmonds suffered a stroked while traveling from Washington DC.  Simmonds is currently under a physician’s care with his wife, Tina, at his bedside.  He is currently stabilized and seems to be progressing well.  The Sentinel family will keep you informed on Simmonds’ condition over the next few weeks. 

The Sentinel’s Executive Publisher & CEO, Danny J. Bakewell, Sr. released the following statement: “We thank everyone who has called to inquire about Yussuf’s condition and we also thank you for your well wishes.  Yussuf is a loyal, committed servant to this community and we look forward to his return as soon as possible.  I ask you to keep him in your prayers in hope of a complete recovery.  We will keep you informed of his progress.   For those who wish to express their well wishes to Mr. Simmonds and his family, we will let you know in the coming weeks the best way to do that.  Have a Merry Christmas and Happy Kwanzaa!”
