Pastor Taurus Myhand and the members of Grant A.M.E. Church in Long Beach will present their Annual Revival starting Wednesday, August 1, through Friday, August 3, at 7 p.m.

The theme is ‘Come in From the Storm’ based on Matthew 8:23-27.  The Rev. Ronald Slaughter of St. James A.M.E. Church in Newark, NJ, brings the message on August 1-2 and the Rev. Charles Dorsey of Christ Our Redeemer A.M.E. Church (COR) in Irvine will preach on August 3.

“Rev. Slaughter was appointed to St. James in May 2011 following the dynamic tenure of Dr. William Watley. In his first eleven months as Senior Pastor of Saint James A.M.E. Church, 220 souls were added to the kingdom, $2 million dollars raised, $100,000 in debt liquidated, a $65,000 parsonage renovation, and a $12,000 vestibule renovation was completed,” said Pastor Myhand.

Also, he has been recognized as one of the ‘Top 40 African Americans Under 40 in Georgia’ by the Georgia Informer newspaper as well as named ‘a rising star in Georgia’ by the A.M.E. Church Christian Recorder newspaper and cited as “evidence the A.M.E. Church is not dying.”

The Rev. Dorsey serves as Youth and Young Adult Pastor at Christ Our Redeemer. In addition, he founded COR’s Young Adult Choir and Bible Study and initiated the New Generation Praise Youth Church.  The Rev. Dorsey also earned a Master of Divinity degree from Claremont School of Theology.

Grant A.M.E. Church is located at 1129 Alamitos Avenue in Long Beach. For information about the Annual Revival, call (562) 437-1567.
