112207_Waters_4colCongresswoman Maxine Waters today joined the chorus of superdelegates who have lent their support to Senator Barack Obama, who has effectively clinched the Democratic nomination according to several news outlets.

After initially endorsing Senator Hillary Clinton, Rep. Waters announced her support for Sen. Obama in a statement that praised Sen. Clinton for her “superb campaign” while simultaneously lauding Obama for his “courage and consistency”

“Senator Obama has run an effective campaign and has overcome many obstacles to create an energy that has brought many Democrats into the party. Together, both of these candidates have generated an unprecedented involvement in Democratic Party politics,” the statement read.

Waters also called for party unity and for the remaining delegates to support Obama and “come together to win the White House in November.”
