Pastor Sylvester and First Lady Earlee Washington

More than four decades of committed service by Pastor Sylvester and First Lady Earlee Washington will be recognized by the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church congregation during a series of Appreciation Services.
On Sunday, August 28, September 18, and September 25, leading clergy from throughout the country will join Pleasant Hill members in saluting the 42-year ministry of Dr. and Mrs. Washington.
“Our pastor has never wavered from his calling to preach and teach the Gospel. His dedication is exemplified by our theme, ‘Our Pastor: A Faithful Steward.’ Dr. Washington is faithful to his calling, his ministry, and his God, and we continue to be extremely blessed through his service to the Lord,” said Sister Betty J. Baker, Anniversary Chairperson.
The pre-anniversary service of appreciation will be held on August 28, at 3:30 p.m., at Pleasant Hill, located at 2009 West Martin Luther King Boulevard in Los Angeles. The keynote speaker will be Rev. E. R. Lane, pastor of Greater Magnolia Church in Lancaster. Also, the L. A. Inner City Mass Choir will perform.
“We extend a cordial invitation to the greater Los Angeles community to worship with us at this special ‘kick-off’ service,” said Sister Baker who is also assisted by the Pastor’s Support Group is coordinating the celebration.
Dr. Washington was called to the ministry in 1967 and ordained by the Rev. Dr. Joseph Hardwick in April 1969. Four months later, he was installed as pastor of Pleasant Hill.
A noted evangelist and Christian educator, Pastor Washington earned a doctorate degree at Providence Baptist Seminary in 1983. Over the years, he has served in various executive capacities with the National Evangelism Movement, Christian Leadership Conference, Cover Los Angeles, and as CEO and president of Abundant Life Family Services. In honor of his achievements, Rev. Washington has received numerous commendations from local, state and national elected officials.
