Nancy Wilson and Assemblyman Mike Davis

James Ingram, Stevie Wonder and Assemblyman Davis

Assemblyman Mike Davis (A-48) brought together an array of entertainers and elected officials to honor two veterans of music, Miss Nancy Wilson and Stevie Wonder. They were serenaded by their peers in the entertainment industry and the community, both of whom have benefited over a span of half a century from the songs of these two titans of music. Those who performed included Freda Payne, Eloise Laws, James Ingram and Chante Moore, and also the two honorees. They did what made them fitting to be honored as the 2010 Living Legends. There to pay their respects to the honorees were Beverly Todd, Judy Pace, Courtney Vance, Dr. Willie Jones, Steve Bradford, Willis Edwards, Artis Lane, Congresswomen Diane Watson and Maxine Waters, who reminded the audience of the tragedy in Haiti: “We need your help; the hurricane season is coming and we have not been able to get tents. I’ll be going back down (to Haiti) on Friday. But direct your resources to the First AME Church. Let’s pray for Haiti.” Pastor John Hunter of the First AME Church was there.
