Janet Timmons Succumbs

Janet Timmons was born December 22, 1913 in Atlanta, Georgia to George and Mary H. Sessions, and passed to her final rest on December 20, 2010.

Janet lived in Los Angeles since 1963 when she located here from Boston, Massachusetts. Janet had many interests. She had a loving family and many, many friends. Janet was an active member of the First African Methodist Episcopal Church in Los Angeles for over 40 years. She had a deep love and appreciation for the pastors, the choir, and the entire church community, a very special connection that she treasured and cherished. Her love for God and the church was the foundation of her spiritual life. Janet was an active member of the Concerned Women’s Club, a civic club that took interest in the community needs.

She is survived by her loving sister, Clara Selden; her niece, Tina Penn, and her husband, Richard Penn; her nephew, Kenneth Selden; her grandniece, Nicole Penn; and her grandnephew, Aaron Penn.

Memorial service will be held Saturday January 8th at 1 p.m. at the First African Methodist Episcopal Church at 2270 South Harvard Boulevard in Los Angeles.
