The public is invited to attend a program on the historic African American Jim Crow-Era Santa Monica beach site beach site sometimes known as the “Inkwell”, presented by the Los Angeles Black Underwater Explorers scuba diving club on Tuesday September 9th at 7:00pm at the Natural History Museum (Times-Mirror Conference Room), Exposition Park. Historian Alison Jefferson will provide information on this site, as well as historical insight into the relationship of African Americans with local beach sports and recreational activities in Southern California during the era of discrimination and segregation. Refreshments will be served and admission is free.
