Standing strong for 30 years, Bishop Johnny J. Young and the Miracle Temple Church of God Pentecostal congregation will recognize the occasion with a Membership Recognition and Awards Breakfast as well as a special Sunday worship service.
The celebration is set for Saturday, October 27 at 9 a.m., at the Proud Bird Restaurant, 11022 Aviation Boulevard in Los Angeles.
On Sunday, October 29, Miracle Temple will hold its 30th Church Anniversary Worship Service at 10:15 a.m., at 733 South Grevillea Avenue in Inglewood.
Bishop Young began his pastoral ministry in 1982 in Carson, along with his wife, Dr. Brenda L. Davis-Young, and sons, Jarvis and Elder Jonathan Young. Under his leadership, the church flourished with new members and added ministries as well as moved in 1984 to its current location.
In addition, Bishop Young is highly regarded for his educational pursuits. He earned his bachelor’s degree at Alabama State University, completed two biomedical fellowships at Meharry Medical College, received his Master of Arts in Education and Counseling, and holds two Doctorate Degrees in Religious Education.
He served as an administrator with Inglewood Unified School District prior to becoming a full-time pastor in 1986. Currently, Dr. Young is the vice president of the District’s Board of Education and previously served as president.
